Green Flash Brewing Co.
Green Flash was where the obsession became a career. As part of the brewing team in San Diego, I got to push the boundaries of what craft beer could be — from the Genius Lab pilot program that gave brewers the freedom to experiment, to beers that went from small-batch tasting room pours to national distribution. The beers below are some of the ones I'm most proud of: a java-centric Baltic Porter built on cold-pressed espresso and Belgian candy sugar, a tropical IPA brewed to celebrate National IPA Day, and a sessionable unfiltered Zwickel Lager that bridged Green Flash's San Diego roots to the Virginia Beach brewery. Each one started with an idea and ended up in the hands of craft beer drinkers across the country.
Cosmic Ristretto
Baltic Porter with Espresso
ABV: 8.2% | IBU: 45
A bold, complex, java-centric Baltic Porter with Espresso. Rich black appearance with bruleed edges and mocha-colored beer foam. Coffee aroma and sweet malts, with smooth espresso and chocolate flavor. Craft City Lagered after cold fermentation for overall finesse and smoothness, then finished with cold pressed espresso bold enough to earn the name Ristretto — a concentrated shot of espresso.
Sea to Sea Lager
Zwickel Lager | Kellerbier
ABV: 4.0% | IBU: 23
An unfiltered Zwickel lager layered with German Pilsner malts, Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Czech Saaz hops, 2-row barley, and traditional Pilsner yeast. This sessionable brew has a light body with subtle sweet malt and fruity hop flavors, notable lager yeast, and a crisp, clean finish.
Spanish Trampoline
Juicy IPA
ABV: 6.6% | IBU: 32
Bouncing into new territory, Spanish Trampoline features huge hop aroma with low bitterness. Brewed to celebrate National IPA Day, it's tropical and dank with notes of passion fruit and mango.
